MISSION STATEMENT

To provide basic needs and emergency assistance to families and individuals in crisis.

VISION STATEMENT

To strengthen and elevate all communities by providing food, shelter and other basic needs.

GROWTH STATEMENT

In order to maximize our impact, the Apartment Association Outreach will focus its growth in two high-need areas:  rental assistance and canned food collection.

This non-profit charitable organization was sponsored in 1991 by the Greater CIncinnati Northern Kentucky Apartment Association and run by volunteers. The purpose of this program is to provide cothing and household items to those in need.
The original store was located on the outskirts of Over-The-Rhine in downtown Cincinati. The building was renovated in 1991 by volunteers from the Apartment Association. In 1994 the store was moved to 4243 Colerain Avenue when Cincinnati Coin Laundry donated the building to the cause.
Everyday operations of the Outreach Store were managed by volunteers. This endeavor was subsidized by donations from area apartment communities, owners and apartment industry service companies.
In 2000, we restructured the organization to provide a broader benefit to residents and the community at large. Our primary focus became the Rent Assistance Program and has grown into a host of community projects which benefit young and old alike.

RENT ASSISTANCE

AAO currently has two commitments:  The Free Store in Cincinnati manages the Rent Assistance Program for Ohio residents and the Welcome House in Covington manages the Rent Assistance Program for Northern Kentucky Residents. The organizations receive $13,000 annually to disperse funds to individuals that might be in need. Emergency requests are considered on an as-needed basis.

SCHOOL BACKPACK PROGRAM

During July, over 30,000 school supplies are collected from participating apartment communities and individual businesses to collect donated school supplies. The Outreach Board works closely with neighborhood Service Center Coordinators to identify apartment communities who have children in need of school supplies. Additional items are purchased to fulfill the school requirements. Items collected are sorted into backpacks and are given to the children at a picnic. In August 500 -1,700 backpacks full of school supplies are donated to inner city children.  Click here for more information on volunteering.  Click here for the Volunteer Form.

SENIOR ASSISTANCE

Outreach provides needed materials for senior groups including personal and household products. A catered lunch along with entertainment, door prizes and a blanket is provided to every resident.

OTHER PROJECTS

*St. Cecilia School in Independence, KY received a Canon Copier, school supplies, two computers, tables, and printer.
*A.D. Owens Elementary of Newport Independent School District received 12 boxes of school and art supplies.
 * Over 1,000 bottles of hand sanitizer was donated to Covington Independent Schools as well as the Welcome House in Covington to be distributed.
*  A donation of 100 fans to Clermont County Senior Center.

CANNED GOOD DRIVE

Our Canned Good Distribution project will distribute canned foods to at least four community pantries every other month. We are receiving direct donations for this drive along with our general fund raising efforts.

2010 Fundraising Campaign

The Greater Cincinnati Northern Kentucky Apartment Association has a long standing commitment to providing support to the multifamily housing industry. We also realize that part of our commitment must involve support from the entire membership. Because of this, GCNKAA helped to establish a 501 C 3 charitable organization, the Apartment Association Outreach (AAO).

The Apartment Association Outreach Board has initiated a Fundraising Campaign to raise funding which will allow Outreach to react quickly to needs of apartment residents in our communities. This will raise awareness of the good work of apartment owners and the value of apartments to our community, and otherwise often maligned concept.Your donations, which are tax deductible, will make a huge difference in the lives of so many people.
